Camilla & Recovery Yoga

Camilla Bergman

Namaste!  Thank you for visiting Rural Escapes Portugal website. I truly hope you decide to come and join us here, I am sure you will love it 🙂

I began Recovery Yoga as I wanted to combine my experience of being in a 12-step recovery program since 1999 and my love of yoga. I also recognise that we are all addicts in some way – our society thrives on our addictions and we all need some form of recovery from the fast paced world we live in. It is easy to get caught up in the dramas of life – stressful jobs, family demands, politics, environmental issues, poor diet and social media – all this has a massive impact on us and affects the way we live our lives often leaving us feeling stressed, drained, irritable and disconnected, resulting in us losing a sense of who we truly are.

Recovery Yoga offers a safe and inclusive space for people to take some time out for themselves to explore yoga. Recovery Yoga encompasses a range of mindfulness yoga approaches to help soothe the mind, calm the nervous system, and bring flexibility to the body, helping us to face what ever we are experiencing in each moment.

The name yoga derives from the sanskrit word yuj meaning to bind or to yoke, it is a way of binding all aspects of ourselves – mind, body and spirit, so we no longer feel this sense of disconnection. This is why yoga is so calming for the nervous system, leaving people feeling deeply relaxed and at peace.

I offer a therapeutic and honest approach in my teachings.  You will be guided through meditation, breathing practises, yoga postures and a deep relaxation leaving you feeling relaxed, re-connected and energised.  I also offer sound healing through the gong and singing bowls.
